From the Classroom to Closing Day: A People-First Approach to Real Estate
Professor and realtor? Absolutely. I’m also a husband, dad of four, music enthusiast, and lifelong San Francisco Giants fan. My journey has taken me from the front office of a Major League Baseball organization to business operations roles in multiple Division I athletic departments, through earning a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, and ultimately to the classroom as a Professor of Sport Administration at Belmont University. Today, I prepare students to lead in the sports and entertainment industries—an experience that shapes the way I serve my real estate clients.
I grew up on a farm in California’s San Joaquin Valley and moved to Tennessee in 1999 to attend the University of Tennessee, where I met my wife, Amy, a Cookeville native. Since then, our family’s journey has taken us to Florida, Kansas, Ohio, Missouri, Louisiana, and Georgia before bringing us back home to Tennessee. Along the way, our family grew to include four incredible children and two rescue pups.
Relocating across the country gave us firsthand experience with what it means to move—finding the right neighborhood, building new friendships, learning a new community, and navigating the emotional and financial decisions that come with buying and selling homes. Those experiences didn’t just shape our family; they shaped my passion for real estate.
Why Real Estate?
Sports, teaching, and real estate all have one thing in common: they are people-first industries. Long-term success isn’t measured by attendance numbers or transaction volume—it’s measured by impact.
As a professor, my greatest joy is walking alongside students as they pursue their dreams. Every student is different. Each one has unique goals, strengths, and challenges. My role is to listen, learn who they are, and guide them toward where they want to go.
Real estate is no different.
Every client has a different story and a different vision for homeownership. Whether you’re buying your first home, relocating to Middle Tennessee, upsizing, downsizing, or investing, the journey is personal. I intentionally keep a focused client base so I can truly get to know you—your priorities, your timeline, and what “home” means to you. From there, I become your guide, helping remove obstacles and making the process as smooth and clear as possible.
A Partnership Built on People
I chose real estate because I genuinely love it. I enjoy simplifying complex decisions, negotiating strategically, and removing barriers so my clients can actually enjoy the process.
That’s why I partnered with The Real Estate Collective (RECO). Their mission aligns perfectly with my own philosophy: people over profits. It’s more than a tagline—it’s a commitment. Real estate isn’t just about selling houses. It’s about helping you find the right home, making wise decisions, and having someone by your side every step of the way.
Whether in the classroom or at the closing table, my approach is the same: listen first, lead with integrity, and serve with purpose. If you’re ready to begin your next chapter in Middle Tennessee, I’d be honored to help guide the way.
